What did we do before meditation apps? I tell you, these little guys are helping thousands of people to sit down and actually meditate easily.
I have been meditating for over 20 years, but I still love an App to change things up a bit. It’s also a great way to learn to meditate.
Meditation can:
- Lower blood pressure
- Improve blood circulation
- Easy anxiety and stress
- Help depression
- Help with chronic pain
…. and the list goes on.
The main reason that I love meditation is that I’m always led to better place: at the very least I get calmer, and at best, I feel that I am guided. The great thing about meditation is that you don’t have to be a “spiritual” person. Whatever your belief, you can bring the tenets of your Faith into your meditation – it’s easy. The word of the Lord, or the still small voice within will come to you when you are able to un-clutter your mind through meditation.
Okay – ready for the Apps?
- Stop, breathe, think: This is a free App, which I love because you check in and the app know how you are feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally. They will then give you your results, and a choice of recommended meditations to do. You can choose the time, the style and just get going.
- Head Space: This is a great way to learn a simple and powerful technique, which is based on the practice of “mindfulness”. The idea is that you do ten 10-minute meditation on ten consecutive days – this is free, and then if you like it you can sign up for a subscription.
- Jack Kornfield is the master of guided meditation. He is a psychologist, who was very instrumental in bringing meditation to a mainstream audience here in America. If you are in pain, either physically or mentally, I highly recommend having Jack guide you to a place where you might be able to soften the edges of your suffering.
