3 Great Grains For Energy and Muscle Strength

Grains For Energy and Muscle Strength

Look for grains that are super high in protein when you are working out. This way you’ll get the good carbs that you need, packed with a mega protein punch. They are all happen to be gluten-free.

Here are my 3 go-to’s:

  1. Millet: This is such a healthy grain. I find it in most bulk bin stores (it looks like bird food – actually is bird food!). I use it in place of rice or oats to either create a porridge or the grain in one of my healthy supper bowls.
  2. Teff: A relatively new kid on the block, Teff is a grain that is eaten a lot in Africa. It is full of so many nutrients, and contains a lot of protein. Try baking some Teff cookies or muffins to eat after a workout.
  3. Quinoa: I know – it’s become rather ubiquitous – but this ancient, protein-filled grain is so versatile: You can now buy it as a flour, a grain, or a pasta. If you work out everyday, it might be a great choice for you.

What are your favorite protein-packed plant foods?
