HOW TO CREATE A DUCHESS DO!

I’m in England right now, and everyone’s going nuts over – yes, the Royal Birth, of course, but also over Kate’s lustrous locks when she appeared just 2 days after giving birth on the hospital steps. I don’t know about you, but when I emerged after 2 nights in hospital after giving birth, my hair looked dreadful. Did I care? No – but then, I didn’t have the eyes of the world on me. Of course Kate had an entire beautification team standing by to give her that extraordinarily stunning “natural” look. Instead of her usual bouncy curls, her hair stylist, Amanda Tucker, blew out her naturally curly hair, into long, lustrous waves – totally befitting for a brand new Mom.

Given the fact that none of us have Amanda Tucker to hand, much less anyone to give us a quickie blow-out, can we achieve a similar look in a pinch? I say – absolutely! I have a natural curl in my hair, which left untamed isn’t a pretty curl – it’s actually more of a kink. Moreover, when it gets humid outside, the frizz appears rather too quickly. Being the product junkie that I am, I’ve discovered a few styling secrets that really work to tame the frizz:

1. Use a shampoo that is sulphate-free. This will stop your hair from drying out. I love Gwen’s Blends shampoos because they are so moisturizing.

2. Make sure that you thoroughly rinse out your conditioner, especially from the scalp area, because a heavy/waxy residue will make the frizz worse.

3.Try a miraculous shine-booster like John Master’s “Shine On”. This natural formula contains kelp in place of silicone, so creates shine, while treating your tresses.

4. Make sure your hair is 80% dry before you start to blow it straight.

5. The key to a lasting blow-out is to section off your hair with giant clips, and to make sure that each section is 100% dry before going on the the next. Use a large ceramic hair brush. I love Olivia’s Garden NanoThermic brush.

6. Finish off your look by rubbing a few drops of good quality Argan oil between your fingers and smooth through your hair, starting underneath, and finishing on top.
